Individual Counseling for Teens
As a teenager, Life at your age right now is tough! Navigating friendships; trying to meet your parents/guardians’ expectations; trying to follow the rules while also trying to learn who you are as a person… oh yea, all while trying to succeed in school and pass these regents exams!
I am not just a therapist… I have spent the majority of my adult life working with students in schools, and I understand what it could be like… even as I reflect on my own existence as a teenager in New York City.
It’s not easy, but you don’t have to do it alone! Sometimes you want to talk to your folks about what’s going on with you…but sometimes it is hard for them to listen with an objective, unbiased ear. Because of that, we sometimes miss the opportunity to learn lessons in life that will help propel you forward in a more healthy and wholesome direction.
In therapy, I listen with that unbiased ear. I don’t judge you or your decisions, because I know there is a reason for it. Working together, we can figure it out.
As a parent, Raising a teen is tough! For many of us it is enough stress figuring out how to pay bills and put food on the table. With life’s daily stressors and pressure at work, it may leave little time for you to TRULY connect with your teen and understand them deeply in order to help them navigate all of their own stressors and challenges. YOU do not have to do it alone. Making the decision to have your teen start therapy may not be easy for some, but therapy is a resource. It is a tool that can change your teen’s life by helping them gain clarity of mind, learn identity of self, and develop goals and the acquire the tools to work towards those goals.
In Individual Counseling we use conversation as the tool to alleviate mental and emotional suffering and overcome personal difficulties or challenges.
Counseling for Teenagers is especially important, as declining mental health can significantly impact a teen’s emotional well being, self-esteem, physical health, relationships, and performance at school.
At Seeds of Empowerment, I provide a safe and affirmative space where you (or your teen- if a parent/guardian is reading) can freely address and discuss your issues and concerns. We will identify self-destructive behaviors and what triggers them, and learn tools to help you navigate present and future challenges.
In therapy I will help you to :
